Competition 2022-23 regulations

SUMMARY

 

The new edition of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition has started!
Below you will find recommendations, a brief – not exhaustive – summary, the main milestones and the competition’s full regulations in several languages.

Those interested in participating in the competition must read the full regulations carefully in order to understand all the elements required for each phase of it.

WHO CAN APPLY
The competition is open to adults, according to the prevailing regulations of their participating Country/Region, born after 01.02.1992 that have worked full-time for at least one year in one or more restaurants/catering companies as “commis” or “chef de cuisine” or “chef de partie” or “sous chef”.

 


COMPETITION PHASES

There are four competition phases:

  1. Online Registration: from 7 February until 7 July 2022 (pay attention to the time zones as defined in the Competition Regulations).
  2. Definition of the Regional Shortlist by ALMA: from 1 July to 22 July 2022.
    Notification of the participants selected for the Regional Shortlist will start from 29 July 2022.
  3. Regional Finals: the selection of the Regional Finalists shall take place between 10 September and 31 January 2023.
  4. The Grand Finale, with the assignment of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Award 2022-23 is currently scheduled by October 2023 in Milan. Nevertheless, the date and location of the event may change (the participants will be informed directly).

 

REGIONS
For the purposes of S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition 2022-23, the globe has been split into 15 regions, including 50 key countries that have to be represented.
The Area for which an applicant shall compete is determined by where the restaurant s/he is currently working is located.

Considering the current international context and the limitations to the possibility of interactions that underlie the competition, Sanpellegrino therefore acknowledges the impossibility of having Russia participating in the 2022-23 edition of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Competition.

 


OFFICIAL COMPETITION LANGUAGE
T
he official language of the competition is English, so candidates must be able to express themselves in spoken and written English.


However, in order to facilitate and speed up the registration process, candidates may apply in any of the following languages: English, Chinese Mandarin, Spanish, French, Italian.
Applications in languages other than those listed above will not be considered valid.

Moreover, to guarantee a better understanding of the regulations, aside from the languages listed above, the regulations will also be available in German, Japanese, and Portuguese.
