Seira Furuya Wins the Japan Challenge

Seira Furuya is the young chef selected to represent Japan in the S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2016 final.

Seira Furuya has been named as the winner in the Japan final and will now go on to represent the region at the Grand Final in Milan in October with her winning signature dish: The Four Seasons of Japan.

Facing off against nine other young semi-finalists from across the region at Le Cordon Bleu, Tokyo, the young chef from Gakusi Kaikan managed to secure her victory by convincing the local jury composed of renowned chefs Yoshihiro Narisawa from NARISAWA, Seiji Yamamoto from Nihonryori RyuGin and Luca Fantin from Il Ristorante Luca Fantin that her signature dish excelled in the qualities required under the 'Golden Rules'.

Speaking about her win, a delighted Furuya commented: “I’m thrilled to represent Japan in Milan, I still cannot believe it.”

Yoshihiro Narisawa will mentor Furuya in the months ahead helping her to perfect her technique and signature dish in preparation for the ultimate challenge at the Grand Final in October, where she will compete against 19 other contestants in front of the 'Seven Sages' (seven top international chefs).
