Winners of the Greater China Regional Final 2019

Here are all the winners of the Greater China regional final in the 4th edition of S.Pellegrino Young Chef.

Victor/Zhi Cheng Wang was announced as winner of the Greater China regional final of S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2020. The competition took place in Shanghai on 21 November, where the ten best young chefs from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan competed in the live cook off. He will join the 11 other regional finalists at the Grand Finale in Milan in October, 2021 when they compete head to head for the biggest title of all – The Best Young Chef in the World.

Of the win, he said: “I wish I could really learn from mentors and jurors and try my best to finish my dish better, to perform better at Milan. I also hope that I can have more chance to communicate with other chefs.”

 

An international jury panel of five professional chefs, were tasked with the challenging job of selecting one finalist and their signature dish to represent the region at the Grand Finale of S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2020, namely: Dong Zhenxiang, Jacqueline Qiu, Lanshu Chen, Umberto Bombana and Vicky Lau.

 

Victor/Zhi Cheng Wang has won the opportunity to compete for the overall title of S.Pellegrino Young Chef at the final, however, a further three young chefs were also awarded at the Regional Final. To reflect S.Pellegrino’s belief in and support of, the transformative power of gastronomy and its impact beyond the kitchen, the following three awards have been introduced to the competition to compliment the existing S.Pellegrino Young Chef award:

All of the winners of the additional three awards will also be invited to attend the Grand Finale, affording them another opportunity to network with some of the biggest names in gastronomy from around the globe.
